SUMMARY:Webinar: A New Call to Action: Enhancing Prevention Ethics to Meet Current Challenges
DESCRIPTION:July 12th 2pm ET A New Call to Action: Enhancing Prevention Ethics to Meet Current Challenges – Webinar \nThis two-part series will explore how our prevention priorities and efforts have changed (and will continue to change) amid the challenges brought on by our country’s recent reckoning with racial inequity and its pandemic experience. We will also discuss the role of the Prevention Code of Ethics as a touchstone for our field\,= and introduce an approach for critically evaluating its principles to determine how to better align them with current and emerging needs within the prevention landscape. Participants will also have the opportunity to develop a personal action plan for enhancing the ethical performance of their professional responsibilities during the sessions. \nhttps://pttcnetwork.org/centers/northeast-caribbean-pttc/event/new-call-action-enhancing-prevention-ethics-meet-current

SUMMARY:Webinar: Trauma Informed Care: Through the Lens of COVID-19
DESCRIPTION:July 12th 10am ET Trauma Informed Care: Through the Lens of COVID-19 \nIn recent years\, treatment centers have focused on creating trauma informed settings by integrating safety protocols and avoiding re-traumatization in service delivery. The emergence of COVID-19 as a pandemic has increased rates of trauma and stress in our communities to levels that most of us have not experienced. Still\, providers need to be equipped to address the traumatic impact of the current environment. This training will look at some of the basics of trauma\, as well as some of the effects of COVID-19 on trauma and look at ways to heal. \n  \nThis training series meets the requirements for 3 renewal hours (CASAC\, CPP\, CPS) and 3 initial hours (CPP\, CPS) through New York State’s Office of Addiction Services and Supports (NYS OASAS). All participants are required to attend the ENTIRE training\, turn on their video cameras and to actively participate in order to receive a certificate of completion. \nhttps://attcnetwork.org/centers/northeast-caribbean-attc/event/trauma-informed-care-through-lens-covid-19-0 \n

SUMMARY:Using Social Media to Detect Substance Use Trends During the COVID-19 Pandemic (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:While substance use trends shifted during the pandemic\, some substance use data collection methods were also temporarily suspended.  At the same time\, social media was one way for people to stay connected to one another. In this presentation\, Dr. Jessica Cance of RTI will describe her work examining the use of social media to detect substance use trends during the COVID-19 pandemic. This project used social media listening techniques to determine shifts in mention of the use of alcohol and cannabis before\, during\, and after the national emergency declaration. This presentation will provide insight into the ways substance use trends shifted during the pandemic and how the discussion of substance use on social media may reflect broader social norms. \nhttps://pttcnetwork.org/centers/new-england-pttc/event/using-social-media-detect-substance-use-trends-during-covid-19

SUMMARY:Wedding of the Century: The Prevention\, Treatment and Recovery Throuple (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Opioids have created an unprecedented health crisis. While coalition leaders work tirelessly with sector representatives by bridging social divides in our nation’s communities\, it’s important for prevention leaders to create unprecedented responses and strategies to combat the opioid epidemic by regularly reaching out to and collaborating with local\, state and federal treatment and recovery partners. It is imperative that we nurture and build these relationships within our coalition by understanding the plethora of ways we help each other fulfill our drug-free mission. You’re in for a treat as this rousing wedding themed presentation will feature fun-filled and engaging material from a national Opioid Response Network Prevention Specialist.\nRegister
