I Am More Than Meets the Eye-PSA
Posted September 24, 2015

In February 2011, SAMHSA launched the Prevention of Substance Abuse and Mental Illness Video Public Service Announcement (PSA) Contest. We asked young adults to create an original 15- or 30-second PSA that embraced the theme "We are the ones, how are you taking action?" and illustrated how young people are working to prevent substance abuse and promote mental health in their communities. We encouraged young adults to consider what they're doing on a daily basis, and to recognize that small actions can make a big difference.
This PSA is the contest winner and is titled, "I Am More Than Meets the Eye." It was made by a group of young adults and teenagers from Richmond, California who participate in the RYSE youth center, which aims to build youth leadership towards personal and community health and transformation. This PSA highlights the ways in which young people can focus on their own talents and inner strength to prevent substance abuse and promote emotional well-being in their community.
