I Am More Than Meets the Eye-PSA In February 2011, SAMHSA launched the Prevention of Substance Abuse and Mental Illness Video Public Service Announcement (PSA) Contest. We asked young adults to create an original 15- or 30-second PSA that embraced the theme "We are the ones, how are you taking action?" and illustrated how young people are working to prevent substance abuse and promote mental health in their communities. We encouraged young adults to consider what they're doing on a daily basis, and to recognize that small actions can make a big difference. |

Chris Herren Chris Herren is a former NBA player who has struggled with substance abuse for much of his basketball career. Drug-free and alcohol-free since August 1, 2008, Chris has refocused his life to put his sobriety and family above all else. Chris is the founder of The Herren Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing treatment navigation, educational and mentoring programs to those touched by addiction and to educate people of all ages on the dangers of substance abuse.
