Tobacco Product Use Among Middle and High School Students — National Youth Tobacco Survey, United States, 2024
The CDC recently published an article titled “Tobacco Product Use Among Middle and High School Students — National Youth Tobacco Survey, United States, 2024”. Researchers found that from 2023 to 2024, current (previous 30-day) use of any tobacco product declined among high school students from 12.6% to 10.1%. This decline was largely driven by a reduction in high school e-cigarette use (10.0% to 7.8%). No statistically significant changes were seen among middle school students. While tobacco product use declined among high school students, there is still a critical need for comprehensive tobacco control strategies, regulations, and enforcement to prevent and reduce tobacco product use among youths.
